“The way it’s always been done” in one Philly precinct

At PHILA WD 04 DIV 02, 5620 WYALUSING AVE., voter suppression evidently comes in the form of a judge of elections.

Committee of 70 volunteers contacted hotline to report that Judge of Elections is requiring all voters to present photo identification in order to vote. If a voter does not have photo i.d., the Judge of Elections turns the voters away. In addition, where a voter indicates that they have previously registered, but the rolls do not so reflect, the Judge of Elections refuses to call on behalf of the voter to ascertain registration status and requires those desiring a provisional ballot to present photo i.d. When volunteers spoke with Judge of Elections, Judge of Elections stated that he has been doing this a very long time, that what he is requiring is the way it has always been done, and that the only reason why anything is different now is because of the circumstances of this election.
